In the past few weeks, large amounts of rainfall in northern Myanmar has led to massive flooding, destroying hundreds of homes and businesses and displacing thousands of people, including many of our LOTWC students and their families.

Several of our students live in an IDP (Internally Displaced Peoples) camp in the city of Myitkyina. This area was severely flooded 2 weeks ago, affecting many of the students in our LOTWC community. These precious families were already displaced from their homes due to the war and now find themselves homeless again in the wake of this disastrous flood. Then, last week, flooding from the same river devastated another region further south in Pyay where another group of students live.
We plan to send relief funds next week to help towards the restoration of the IDP shelters. Our Burmese board members, who live in Myitkyina, will also be distributing emergency relief to the students and their families there, as well as to the family in Pyay. We are praying that these financial gifts will be an encouragement to them and will aid in the process of rebuilding after the devastation they have endured.

Please join us in praying:
- for relief, provision, and return to stability. As you can imagine, the internet and electricity have been impacted by the flooding, which limits our students’ ability to join our classes.
- for protection against infections and illness that can be brought on by flood conditions.
- for wisdom as we serve these families.
- for peace in the nation of Myanmar.
The needs of our friends in Myanmar are great. If you would like to join us in contributing towards the rebuilding efforts, please click the link below. (Indicate “relief” in the “Additional Information” field.) These funds will be hand-delivered by our LOTWC board members to the families most impacted by the flood.
And if you are interested in serving in another capacity (event planning, teaching, curriculum development, grant-writing, mentoring, etc.) we would love to talk to you about how we might partner in serving our friends in Myanmar.
